The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is a nonprofit group based in Washington D.C. that works in global education. Their purpose is to raise awareness in promoting technology in education to solve problems and influence innovation. Founded in 1979, ISTE is passionate about the creation of these new solutions that improve opportunities for students in guidance, professional learning, and virtual networks. It is through this passion that they have an annual convention for everyone in the teaching sector to come and meet with others who feel the same way.
ISTE 2018, running from June 24th until June 27th, is the convention where education strategists come together and share resources for their work in improving learning and teaching. Here, people get connected to the best in educational technology, edtech for short, and then network with them. There are thousands of different opportunities to make learning influential and fun again with a career path that goes into the improvement of educational technology. In Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center, you can ask questions to presenters, attend an interactive lecture, and be hands-on.
The ISTE Conference & Exposition is the most comprehensive educational technology show in the world, attracting education leaders for 30 years. Every year, located in different locations across the globe, the ISTE conference brings education specialists closer with a stronger perspective on learning along like-minded teachers in changing how people work with students in their respective fields. More than 16,000 people from media to technology coordinators to school administrators to politicians come every year to speak, attend sessions, and see the new things people have to offer in the expo hall.
There are many, many sessions where people can attend EdTech conferences and speak with presenters. The exhibitions are massive, especially at McCormick Place, the largest convention center in the United States. Major education companies and notable national suppliers are there too to help exhibit what they can do to help push cutting edge technology in education. The Edtech StartUp Pavilion and Startup Pitch Fest are great places to attend for newcomers who want to possibly make a deal with what they can do that enhances the education of children. It is a good place to go for new contacts and networking.
ISTE has many sponsors and corporate members that do more than just support the organization. They are extremely important in helping reaching the mission of educational technology promotion while also building relationships with others. ISTE 2018 and beyond (2019 in Philadelphia and 2020 in Anaheim) allows everyone to gain intelligence about the EdTech market. With their support and the support of others, including individuals, the cost of registration for the annual conference and expo is kept low, making it accessible for many educators around the world to come. So, come and learn about ISTE, its annual conference and expo, and see what the educational world will be talking about next to change the future.
